SMS Opt-In Workflow

Last updated: November 2, 2026

This page documents the complete end-user opt-in workflow for the HDH Tech Support SMS messaging program. Our messaging program is a customer care program — we send SMS messages only about an open support request. We do not send marketing, promotional, or advertising messages.

Opt-In Method: Public Web Form

End users opt in by visiting our publicly accessible web form at https://hdhtechsupport.com/sms-opt-in, entering their mobile number, and actively checking the SMS consent box. The form is reachable without an account or login. The checkbox is unchecked by default and is never pre-selected. Pre-checked boxes are never used.

Submit button

"Yes, sign me up!" — the form cannot be submitted until the consent box is checked.

Step 1 — Consent is submitted

The user enters their mobile number, checks the SMS consent box (unchecked by default), checks the separate Privacy Policy and Terms agreement box, and presses the button labeled "Yes, sign me up!".

Step 2 — Immediate confirmation prompt

A confirmation text is sent immediately: "HDH Tech Support: Reply YES to confirm you want SMS support updates about your service request. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help." The same message is shown on screen after submission. No message is sent until the person checks the consent box themselves — no one is auto-enrolled.

Step 3 — Opt-in confirmed by the phone owner

The number is not enrolled until the person who holds the phone replies YES. That reply is matched to the pending sign-up and recorded as the verified opt-in, and we then send: "HDH Tech Support: You are now subscribed to HDH Tech Support support-update alerts about your service request. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help." A number that never replies is never enrolled. Sign-up attempts are rate limited, so the form cannot be used to text a number repeatedly.

Step 4 — Support-only messaging

The number is used only for support communications tied to an open support request: agent replies, ticket status changes, and callback reminders. No marketing or promotional messages are ever sent.

Exact Consent Language Shown to End Users

The following text and checkbox appear next to the mobile number field on the public opt-in form. The checkbox is unchecked by default and must be actively checked by the user to opt in.

I agree to receive SMS messages from HDH Tech Support

I agree to receive SMS messages from HDH Tech Support about my support requests. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of service.

Separate checkbox: I have read and agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

Secondary Opt-In: In-Portal Support Request Form

Registered technicians can also opt in while submitting a support request in the portal. That checkbox is also unchecked by default, states the same disclosures, and is optional — consent is not required to submit a support request or to receive support. This form sits behind a login; the public web form above is the primary, publicly verifiable opt-in method.

Required Disclosures Present in the Opt-In Flow

  • Program purpose: Customer care / technical support only — no marketing or promotional messages.
  • Message frequency: "Message frequency varies" — typically 1–10 messages per ticket over its lifecycle.
  • Message & data rates: "Message and data rates may apply" is stated directly in the opt-in text and the confirmation text.
  • Opt-out instructions: "Reply STOP to cancel" is stated directly in the opt-in text and every message.
  • Help instructions: "Reply HELP for help" is stated directly in the opt-in text and every message.
  • Resubscribe: Users who have opted out may reply START to opt back in.
  • Double opt-in: The number is enrolled only after the phone owner replies YES to the confirmation prompt. Enrollment is never completed from a web form alone.
  • Active consent: Checkbox is unchecked by default; the user must actively check it, and a separate checkbox covers the Privacy Policy and Terms.
  • Not a condition of service: Consent is not required to receive support — the customer may communicate by phone or in the portal instead.
  • Linked legal pages: The opt-in text links directly to the Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions, which contain the full SMS program disclosures and the non-sharing-of-mobile-data statement.

Opt-Out & Keyword Handling

Once enrolled, the end user may opt out at any time using the following standard keywords, processed by our inbound SMS webhook:

  • STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, HALT — Immediately unsubscribes the user. No further messages are sent, and the user receives: “You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.”
  • HELP, INFO — Returns a help message with opt-out instructions and support contact information.
  • START, YES, UNSTOP — Resubscribes a previously opted-out user to the messaging program.
  • All keywords are case-insensitive and processed the same way across our campaign registration, sample messages, and this application.
